Be Careful of Scams

Unfortunately, online job scams are very common, and many people have lost money or shared sensitive information because they didn’t know what to look out for. At RemoteHustleNG, we want you to stay safe. Here are some important things to remember:

  • 💰 Never pay for a job

    • No real employer will ask you to pay for applications, training, or job placements.

    • If someone requests money to “secure your role” — it’s a scam.

  • 📧 Watch for suspicious emails

    • Fake recruiters may use free email accounts like Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook.

    • Real companies usually email from their official company domain (e.g., @companyname.com).

  • 🌐 Check the company website

    • Before applying, visit the company’s official career page to confirm if the role exists.

    • If you cannot find the job listing on their site, be cautious.

  • 🔒 Protect your personal information

    • Avoid sending details like bank account numbers, or passwords.

    • Genuine employers only request your CV, cover letter, and maybe portfolio/LinkedIn.

  • 🚩 Look for red flags

    • Offers that sound “too good to be true” (e.g., very high salary with no experience).

    • Poorly written job descriptions full of spelling mistakes.

    • Pressure to act immediately (“Apply and pay today or lose the opportunity”).
